Patient Testimonials
So many of our patients have had remarkable recovery stories. The process of returning to a life of health and mobility is different for each person, yet each is profound in his or her own way. We are humbled and grateful to be among so many supportive and resilient people!
I first heard about Lori Dixon at Dixon and Associates Occupational Therapy from a close friend a few years ago. I had rotator cuff surgery and was (so I thought) receiving physical ."therapy". Instead, I found myself alone majority of the time, unsure if I was doing the exercises correctly.
The Physical Therapist would occasionally come out and show me another exercise and then leave again. After multiple physical therapy (PT) sessions my shoulder was still "frozen" and I had almost maxed out my insurance. I decided to take my friend's advice and call Lori Dixon at Dixon Therapy.
To my surprise I found a delightful, caring, and professional Occupational Therapist in Lori. She worked one-on-one with me, asked me to describe how I was feeling during the exercises, and was able to listen to my "body" . as when to stop. After a few visits, my shoulder had "thawed out" (even though it was painful) and I had some range of motion. After a few more sessions and doing the at home exercises Lori Dixon prescribed, I was able to get 100% of my full range of motion back!
This year I had trigger thumb surgery which remained tremendously painful, stiff, and swollen for four weeks after my operation. Having such great success with Lori Dixon, I called and made another appointment. The first week was spent "unfreezing'' the thumb, getting back some range of motion, and donning an edema glove. After almost two weeks of Occupational Therapy (OT) my thumb was back doing the things I love (playing the piano, cello, and flute).
LoriDixon at Dixon and Associates is the only person I fully trust to treat me and other people with care, dignity, and qualified expertise. With her many years of exceptional training and experience, Lori Dixon is truly an extraordinary therapist and person!

I came to Lori after 7 months of therapy from the Worker's Comp approved OT for a broken wrist and frozen shoulder. On my initial visit Lori and I discussed my injury, she assessed my pain and range of motion before beginning treatment. At this point I was very limited in my ability to attend to my daily living needs and job functions maneuvering buttons/zippers, chopping vegetables for meals, washing/styling my hair, lifting/lowering/carrying files from the file room to my office, turning the key to unlock a door.
Lori assured me my wrist and shoulder would get better, but it would take time. Fast forward 3 months ... through Lori's healing touch, OT sessions and at-home exercise program, I am back to living my life and taking care of business. Lori, thank you for your time and patience extended to me. The care and attention I received under your care was outstanding and helped me considerably to regain the use of my wrist and shoulder.

I was referred to Lori Dixon OT/L for therapy on a broken finger. After I had to cancel an appointment due to a migraine one time, she mentioned that craniosacral therapy can help with migraine pain. I thought “hmmm”. At the next appointment, I mentioned that I had had a migraine the day before. Since my finger was improving, she asked if she could try craniosacral therapy. I figured that I had nothing to lose, and let her try. The cranioscaral therapy was very quiet and soothing. And I noticed that afternoon that my typical “day after” tightness in my head was gone. When my next appointment rolled around, I decided I would rather she work on my head than anything else. I have now had three craniosacral treatments, and I have not really had a headache in three weeks.
I typically suffer from a least 2 migraine headaches per week, with 2-3 per month being bad enough to send me back to bed of a few hours, and usually at least 1 true migraine( sick on my stomach, can’t tolerate the dimmest of light, etc.) every 4-6 weeks. I have been in treatment for nearly a month, and have not had a headache in all of that time. The Dixon Method works for me!

After four unsuccessful shoulder surgeries, I was in constant pain for many years. Pain pills were not helping me at all. I'd wake up at night hurting so bad I could not go back to sleep. In January of 2013 my wife suggested I try therapy. I didn't want to do it. She said to try it once and if I didn't think it would help me I didn't have to go anymore.
She searched out Dixon Therapy and made an appointment. After that first visit, I felt like that this is what I needed and decided to give this therapy a try. I now have a better range of motion. The pain in my shoulder is not as severe and doesn't wake me up at night. I can now use my right arm and hand to eat and shave my face. My quality of life is much better now.

In 2012, I had my first surgery for a pro-lapsed bladder, with the mesh sling being used to hold the bladder in place. Continuing pain and complications led to a second surgery nine months later. But the pain never completely went away, aching constantly, hurting when I exercised or stood very long; also trouble with bowel movements and intimacy with my husband.
Knowing that my gynecologist had done all he could do, I went on to consult with a urologist who told me that the mesh was in place and doing its job and she thought my pain could be coming from scar tissueI Now three years out from the first surgery and still hurting, I happened to read Lori's article about Myofascial Release Therapy!
I cut out the article and kept it for a few weeks or so. Finally I called and made an appointment. After describing my symptoms to Lori, she started my treatments and amazingly I found relief after the very first sessionI Yes, it has been a process, as she has worked on breaking down the scar tissue but now I can say, after only a couple of months, my pain is almost completely gonel Truly a blessing, I can now exercise, bike, hike and do all the activities I love.

In January 2010, I broke my clavicle in five places in a snow skiing accident. After two surgeries, my orthopedic surgeon recommended physical therapy. I received therapy for six weeks, twice a week. After the recommended therapy I had very limited use of my left arm. This limited use of my arm and shoulder severely affected my profession, my physical activities and my daily routine. The physical therapist that treated me said that he could not do anything further to treat me. He suggested that I would have to work on my own and hope for improvement. I continued exercising my shoulder with little to no improvement.
After seeing Lori in my office, I briefly mentioned the limited movement in my left shoulder and how severely it was affecting my life. Lori suggested that I make an appointment with her and let her see if she could help me. She felt very confident that she could help me. I was willing to try anything to get some movement in my arm and shoulder. After only three weeks of hands on therapy and manipulation, I had almost full range of motion. I continued treatment for several more weeks until I felt fully recovered. To me, Lori is a "miracle worker". Currently Lori is treating me for two bulging discs. Her treatment has helped me so much. She is not only a wonderful therapist; she's also become a very dear friend. She's the bestl

"I sustained a terrible injury to my right wrist in June 2010, shattering my radius and tearing two major ligaments. I am right-hand dominant. I have undergone two surgeries and have attended occupational therapy sessions at Dixon and Associates. My range of notion has improved significantly, and my overall ability to use my right arm and hand are better than I ever could have imagined they would be after such a bad injury.
"Lori has literally changed my life. Her dedication to my complete recovery is both encouraging and motivating. She truly cares about me and how I'm doing not just as a patient, but as a person. She has an uncanny ability to make therapy a fun place to be. Lori is friendly, patient, kind, empathetic, genuine, understanding and pleasant. There's no one else I would rather have on my side or with whom I would rather stand in the ring of fire! "
